  • “Why do you not eat meat?”
  • “Do you not miss it?”
  • “Do you just want to loose weight?”
  • “Are you religious?”

These are the common 4 questions I get when I tell them I don’t eat meat. Like every vegan/vegetarian people would say, it’s not easy to deal with people who are not used to seeing the minorities.

Eating for me is how you proclaim your believes 3 times a day. I don’t believe in animal cruelty and I don’t want to support that by eating it. 3 times a day, I remind myself that I value life and do not want to cause pain or kill other living beings. This is why I eat the way I do.

But I do understand those majorities who eat meat, because I used to be one of them. I remember I asked the same questions to my first vegetarian friends and thought they were strange.  I wish when I was asking questions, they would have given me some links to read, or videos to watch, so I could try getting out of comfort zone and be less ignorant. I wish I was a vegetarian sooner.

That is the reason why I gathered the videos today for people like me 5 years ago to watch. These are just my favorite educational videos that helped me to understand the reality of food industry today.

① This short and powerful message

What are we doing…? When you see it, when you have a bit of emphacy, a bit of an open mind, a bit of interigence, a bit of logic in there. Common sense. It’s time for us to wake up.

This clip is such a powerful reminder of how far we have gone, in order to pleasure ourselves for eating meat and bringing an animal slavery to an reality . Thank you Tim, for creating this video. It is important to be persistent as it will be a long battle to turn the tide, change perceptions and challenge tradition and believes.

② Food Inc

I think it’s one of the most important battles for consumers to fight: the right to know what’s in their food, and how it was grown.

Food, Inc. is hard to get rid of from your thoughts.  After I watched this film, I found myrself eating something — a cookie, a piece of pancake, cereal out of the box, a perfectly round waxen tomato.  And I realized that I had virtually no idea what it actually was.

This was a pure wakeup call, and a horror movie at the same time. Must watch, guys!

③ Earthlings

You know, I’m a vegetarian for about 4 years. I’ve watched most animal rights documentaries out there, but this one is so strong, that I couldn’t pass its first 20 minutes or so…As soon as I started crying, I stopped the dvd…I just couldn’t stand watching it.

This is hard stuff, specially for meat eaters…This is shock therapy, for sure.

④ Cowspiracy

I thought this film was just about cows. And cattle farms. And meat. Not entirely true. Cowspiracy is about more. It is about humans. Our planet. The environment. The impact animal agriculture, of all kinds, has on the big picture.

In fact, one of my favorite quotes in the film is about pigs, and comes from the daughter of free-range cattle farmers:

“Some people think that pigs are dirty and gross, but I kinda, I really like them. They know people. And they will be friends..”

⑤ This awesome awareness rap

Everyone on this planet needs to watch this video. I love my people and everything that helped me grow in this world, but there is something icky going on in this generation. I’m tired of not caring and closing my eyes to see what is going on. This guy in a video, his name is Prince Ea. I’m a fan.

⑥ Dear future Generation

The thing about truth is, it can be denied, not avoided.

What a powerful little message. I’d be interested to know American future if this guy becomes a president.

⑦ Forks Over Knives

“Some people think the “plant-based, whole foods diet” is extreme.  Half a million people a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn onto their coronary artery.  Some people would call that extreme.”

This movie got me on a road to reconsider my whole diet. This movie is the reason why I started Yukitchen.com to spread the health and wellness. I love that these people on the film are not selling anything at all, but the truth behind of the food industry.

If you haven’t watch this film, please watch. It will change your life, and your next generation’s lives as well.

“Let food be thy medicine.”

⑧ Best speech you will ever see

This guy’s speech come in almost all languages. It’s the most powerful presentation I have ever seen.

⑨ Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death

Some nice medical information for you 😉

⑩ 101 reason to go vegan

This video really touched me. I’ve always been very compassionate about animals but like many I don’t see the face when I’m eating  meat. I will never eat any meat, but I fear that the industry will never change and it makes me sad that there is little I can do about it. All I can say is that the vegan world has gained another follower, and I will do my best to bring others along with me usign the power of Yukitchen. How people can slaughter an animal baffles me. You can hear and see the pain and I don’t understand how it isn’t natural for a human to have compassion when they see that. 🙁

⑪ Beyond Carnism and toward Rational, Authentic Food Choices -Melanie Joy

“Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows?”

⑫ This Jane Gooddall’s speech.

“We’re just part of the animal kingdom. We’re not the only beings with personalities and minds capable of reasoning. And certainly not the only being with emotions, like happiness, sadness, fear despair. Nor are we the only beings capable of giving and receiving love.”

“The biggest problem that we have is to fight the power of money.”
